About us

Sketchy Collective is an initiative started by one traveler who builds small creative communities along the way.
While the project moves from place to place, each community develops its own character and continues through the energy, ideas, and participation of local people.
The first drawing club started in Helsinki. Later, another group was created in Hanoi, along with a number of spontaneous meetups in other cities. More recently, activities have been taking shape in Sarajevo.

Each place is different, and so is each group. Drawing and crafts are at the core of the project today, but as we grow we want to explore more in the areas of painting, sculpture, land art, music, theatre, and other themes inspired by the interests of the people involved.

There are many places still to visit and new formats to explore. Feel free to join a meetup, share an idea, or start something together.

Drawing Circle

At each meetup, we take turns being the model for a quick 10-minute sketch. One person poses, everyone else draws, then we switch.

Special Drawing Sessions

Occasionally, we sketch in museums, at live performances, and in various locations throughout the city and in nature.

Pigment Walks & Color Lab

We take a walk through nature, collect earth, stones, plants, and other materials, then experiment with turning them into pigments and paints.

Land Art Cleanups

We visit a natural area, remove things that don't belong there, such as plastic and other litter, and create temporary land art using only materials found on site. The artwork is left behind to naturally weather and disappear over time.

Extremely Amateur Theatre

Theatre for non-actors. We are currently gathering inspiration from folklore, fairy tales, and other sources, then collaboratively creating costumes, scenography, and a performance open to everyone to take part in, in any way.
